this week I learned that people are still paying
real money for ships in Star Citizen.
It's still in alpha. There is essentially no gameplay and you can easily clip out of the universe.
I think it's been in alpha for at least 10 years? In "development" for 15? 20?
Anyway not only are people still paying for it but they're forming little social media cliques and encouraging each other and defending each other for doing so.
It's like NFTs or other crypto except those guys usually rug pull at like a few thousand bucks. The Wing Commander guy probably owns two islands now without releasing practically anything.
