Path of Exile 2
I was not a fan of PoE1, so I was skeptical about this sequel. Boy, was I wrong.
Even though it's in early access, it's very polished. The graphics are excellent, but the unsung hero is the sound. The audio effects are superb, especially with headphones and a good sound card. Map and creature designs are top notch, though a lot has been "inspired" by Diablo 2 and 3.
There are some complaints about the difficulty. I'm not generally a fan of hard games, but I really like this one. Bosses are a bit rough but very readable and unusually creative. White mobs probably account for most deaths. They're very fast, very numerous, and very aggressive. It's easy to get surrounded with no way to escape, so you have to move all the time. I haven't seen any evasive skills like teleport or barbarian leap, though I imagine they'll come up later.
Co-op play is about twice as hard as solo. I think they got a little carried away here. Fortunately, ILA's witch kicks asses within asses. Also, he's good at stopping me from haring around and getting lost.
I haven't been this happy with an early access game since V-Rising. Recommended.
