Because of my profession (and my hobby) I’ve done pretty deep dives into the user-facing side of these things. I don’t pretend to understand all of the math, but I understand it well enough.

The fact is, that not a single one of these engines produces reliable enough output for any production coding task or any production workflow as a “real time” stream, either. 100% of them are a total mess after only a few iterations.

They may be somewhat good for surveillance, especially mass surveillance, and that is the only thing that’s scary about them.

Well that, and impersonation, scamming your grandparents, the death of history, those are all of course real threats especially given how gullible the average person is.

But the singularity is certainly not coming, and no jobs are gonna be replaced in the end. Collapse will make a lot of jobs irrelevant, though.
