I work with it quite a bit too, so I'm fine if you want to skip the part of discussion where we each claim the other doesn't know what theyre talking about to win an argument.
A simulated computing environment generated in real time doesn't have to perform the same Rube Goldberg workflows that typical OS/software does, since what I'm describing is a complete paradigm shift, not a copy of we use today. It only has to take a users input and generate an acceptable output. So generating a basic interface with a spinning lollipop until it can return with a more complex output should be mostly trivial for current diffusion models. However, the current limitations and technical challenges of what can be done at this point in time are not particularly relevant. Most companies will have a 5-10 year roadmap, and even if a fully generated real time environment is not explicitly stated, it's something that is being actively worked on. Does that mean I'm saying medical and financial software will transition to a model that is mathematically guaranteed to fuck up? Probably not; but that's a problem that someone will work out a solution for. The point is, software as we know it will likely become obsolete in our lifetime, and knowing my luck, it will happen before I'm ready to retire.
A singularity is a completely different discussion, and nothing I'm talking about has anything to do with simulated "intelligence".
