RE: More impressions of Star Wars Outlaws
I can count the games that do the "sudden disempowerment to make you feel the character's loss," thing properly on one hand, and Metroid is one of them, LOL.
The thing with the wife makes no sense at all. "This is my wife, she kind of sucks."
I could maybe see it if it's a crafty way to add a second expository viewpoint for story reasons, but making you fight an end-game boss with an enforced downgrade breaks the social contract with the player in a fundamental way that I thought every dev and gaming journalist implicitly understood at this point.
Pragmata updates incoming. I still have to remount my PS5 on the wall after redoing my office again.
In other news I just found the movie "Exit 8" streaming online and I guess the game it's based on is super popular?
I'll probably pay the $3 it costs to play it on Switch. I'm a sucker for quirky walking sims.
The dev said in an interview it took him 9 months to build. I think I would have taken that to my grave. The whole game is one repeating hallway and like a half dozen NPCs. Seems to use a lot of downloadable assets.
Cool concept, could not possibly be a 9 month dev cycle unless you were also learning to use a computer.
