Some disclosure:

Originally, 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs sometimes shipped with flaws that negatively "collaborated" with LGA 1700 motherboards whose manufacturers overzealously increased clock speeds out of the box. This resulted in high temps and even CPU failures. I think both parties have since addressed this issue, although I can't vouch for how effectively. My 13th gen CPU has been running flawlessly at acceptable temperatures for about three years.

People generally hate Nvidia's x070 ti cards because (as always) they believed Nvidia and third party manufacturers would stick to an early proposed MSRP. When they were actually priced at above that MSRP, said people raged about how the price was too close to flagship without delivering insanely great improvements over the last gens. They overlooked the fact that the x070 ti line has never been a real midrange card. It's made for people who want high framerates with a good bit rate without having to spring for a flagship "4K" card. The people who actually bought the x080s and x090s ended up having to use upscaling trickery to get 4K, so that was never a real thing anyway.

I like the x070 cards. I don't want a honking x090 and all the power draw foolery that goes with it. x070 is fine. x070 ti is excellent for my habits.

However, some people have run into problems with the 12v cable that attaches the x070, x080, and x090 cards to power supplies. In some cases, they have overheated, sometimes resulting in damaged cards and the loss of thousands of lives, both human and farm animals. Some species have been brought to the edge of extinction by the mere proximity of a faulty 12v cable. In 2024, China's National People's Congress imposed life sentences on PC builders who were caught smuggling 12v cables into panda preserves. This is a serious matter. Forewarned is forearmed.
