RE: Horizon Forbidden West: dank meme
I have a 1080p monitor with a vga input, an nvidia 4070 w/12GB onboard, and an i5 11th gen (11600kf), 16gb RAM and I just don't care about framerates, though most stuff I just lock at 60fps and don't look back. I usually just set everything on ultra and only even think about it unless it drops to the 20s (rare). The fastest SSD is a given anymore, since streaming to save RAM budget is assumed, and the read speeds are an order of magnitude faster than an HDD (for the cheap ones).
There are some gen 13- or 14-ish intel that eat themselves alive without a software fix. AMD stuff was buggy AF for me in the past so I leave it alone.
Interestingly enough, this box I have is a ship of theseus: I have never replaced everything all at once since my 386 machine.
