RE: Horizon Forbidden West: dank meme
that z97 still has some life, just get parts on ebay.
cpu: Xeon E3-1231 $30
ram: gskill trident ddr3 2400mhz 16gb $100 32gb $200
nvme pcix adapter: $15
new gpu : $300 or so
1 tb nvme : $150
the 24000mhz trident ram can compete with ddr4, provided you run it at the higher xmp clock speed, so you'll want to ditch the old ram.
the xeon cpus are cheap and will give you a nice boost.
I run nvme in one of my sli slots, because the onboard nvme slot on z97 is just not fast enough for it. you lose a bit of gpu performance but its a decent tradeoff.
were you in canada? I don't think the prices are too different there for the used market. black friday is also not that far off, and you can generally get used stuff on ebay for a better price around then.
