Yeah I know, its ridiculous, but to buy a bike with double suspension (necessary for riding over all of the roots and rocks we have in the mountains) that is both light and durable you gotta shell that much out. Riding a hard tail as I do is great for learning but its awful on the kidneys. Of course, if I went carbon fibre I'd be looking at $4-8k. My 2007 Matrix was only $13k. Stupid.
Then there are the big hit bikes...talk about pricey.
