I'm always polite to anybody who handles my food. It doesn't pay to be otherwise. I just don't tip very well when the service is terrible. 10% or less. For good or very good service I always tip above 30%. Either is moot, because turnover is so high at the places that I eat that being a regular good tipper doesn't afford any benefit.
