its the isp's modem plugged into our router. it actually burned the first one. it smelled like burned silicon, though i didnt find anything visible inside when i checked it out. wasnt worth my time to actually try to fix it.
necro, as i said, it:
1) drops WAN connectivity,
2) the wireless network become unusable. windows claims "the capability of your wireless adaptor dont match that of the network" or something similar.
3) sometimes an IP conflict
resetting the router straightens it out..until it destroys the router for good like it did to the 2 previous ones. I imagine it's sending an unclean signal to the router and fucking it up.
