Anyone live in a college town?
I have a theory, more of an observation, about generations of incoming freshman.
When I was fresh out of high school, a lot of kids were pretty into drugs. Which was fine, I didnt partake, but for the ones who did, they were just dope-heads or whatever and they did their thing.
A few years after me, since I was friends with some younger kids, came a new generation, and they were into skateboarding. Incoming freshman at my university were also all about skateboarding. To me, that was a little weird since I dont remember skateboarding being big since I was like 4 years old. Also fine, I just chuckled at their inneficient mode of travel and dumbass skateboarding video games.
Fastforeward to now-times. The semester just started a few weeks ago and all you hear all over town is the squeeling of breaks and tires and the roar of motors on little ricer-ass cars and crotch-rocket motorcycles. As the night progresses it gets more frequent, to a point. These kids are street racing, speeding down dense residental roads, drifting on tighter corners and squeeling to a stop. Street racing, its like they took those 2 fast 2 furious movies and made it their reality. Even some of the Sophomore level college students came back this year with little speedy morotcycles. My friend at another college described the situation like a modern day grease. a bunch of 18 year-old-looking people have a race on a lake road, speed to a stop at the ice cream stand, get out of their little hondas or whatever, all with their girls, and buy them ice cream.
So, is this like a twisted revival of muscle car racing days from way back in the time of our fathers? Are they just taking racing movies seriously or some shit? what even is this?
Whatever. its loud though. I cant wait for winter. Winter will make this hilarious if they dont slow up.
