RE: They are making a prequel to The Thing
If you remember from the John Carpenter movie, the Thing first had its way with that Norwegian base where MacReady found the block of ice that it thawed from. My guess is that the prequel will center around that base.
And yes, it IS easily one of the best horror movies ever made. The whole "Trust No One" theme is one of my favorites. Even the end, where we truly don't know whether the black dude or even MacReady is actually the Thing or not as they sit there waiting to freeze... knowing that if one of them IS it, that it will just once again freeze and most likely be discovered again to wreak havoc.
I read the short story it was based on as well. Pretty good stuff.
