I never played through Duke3D in it's entirety, but if you consider the era, the level of interactivity was far beyond that of any FPS which came before it. Duke3D MADE way for all the build engine games thereafter. I'd say it deserves serious credit.
As far as DNFE going into beta testing - I'm pretty sure that it's a lie. If it's not, then the world probably will end by the year 2012.
And I don't give a shit who you are, that light show against the Orloj (which I've seen in person) as a backdrop is pretty fuckin cool.
