And soon we'll find ourselves fighting The Machine. Laptop lids will suddenly shut, cutting the hands off the "softies" using them. Entire households across the developed world will be held as hostages in their own homes by evil plasma gun-equipped sentry turrets, which have evolved from their lowlier, and more pleasant form as plasma TVs. They should be able to be modified though, succumbing them to the wishes of the modifier. Even worse, lines at grocery stores and fast food joints will be held up for days - possibly weeks, as the cashiers who never previously had to know any math had to calculate everything by hand. I don't mean using pencil and paper considering the alarming rate the mechanical types will stab out eyeballs of people and animals, The Machine won't make the non-mechanical kinds. Humans will have to revert to writing on stone with blood.
