If the writers stick to the comic (And for fuck's sakes, they better) one thing you'll find different-ish about this series is that they really, really like killing off their main characters, this is including the kids. I don't know how cost effective this would be for a television series compared to a comic though, unless they start putting on fake wigs and mustaches on the actors so they can play multiple roles or some stupid shit like that.
I'll agree with you though it has been getting hyped to death (Heh) everywhere, from radio to TV to the intertubes and that always gets grating after a while.
