I'm not into it but I get the appeal. You start out in this pristine, virgin wilderness of a game world with literally nothing but your hands. You make your own tools, which you use to make your own materials. Then you use those materials to build nearly anything you want and then you can "walk" around inside of it and invite other people, etc.
It's a great concept. It's better than a LEGO MMORPG. If I had time, I'd probably play it a lot.
