RE: todays mainstream music
I couldn't tell you a recent band that I've been consistently impressed by since the 80s. Every now and then someone will record a song I actually enjoy, but rarely does that same band have more than 2 or 3 songs I'd listen to.
Seems like people are eager to churn out albums in the course of a month instead of taking a year or two to actually write good songs.
