They always worry about the wrong things. Let me guess: most of the computers on the network are running Windows XP, and most of them probably still have Service Pack 2 and IE7. Meanwhile, most extra-Office software like Adobe Acrobat Reader, etc. is two versions old, but IT doesn't care because they have a SUPER mail filter and everyone's computer is crippled by one generic security policy template.
