Yup. Very low tolerances. If you find somebody pleasant to play with, it's essential to friend them or remember who it is. L4D2 is more or less the exact same gameplay as L4D and given that both of them have been out for so long, newbies are treated like shit.
Hell, I was in a game where I consistently scored the most points each round and then I veered off the path 20 or 30 feet to go after a gas can, got smoked, and then was immediately booted.
