I am using the integrated ATI HD3000 graphics, using 512mb of system ram for video. The Windows7 and Ubuntu gui is very fluid, so at least there's that. I'll upgrade it if I ever find it worth while. Since I spent under $200 for everything but a case hdd, I don't think I did too bad at all, and I imagine is a lot better than an atom-based machine (don't those struggle with HD video anyways?).
I'm not sure whether I'll go with nas. I'll probably just install larger internal or usb drives.
My htpc setup will probably go as follows: Primary 19" monitor on top of my electric piano (which site next to my 60" tv) with a resistive touch screen mod. Mount a super thin keyboard (like from a laptop) and touchpad onto the piano keyboard cover. Use the TV as a secondary display using a wiimote and led wand for a touch interface. An additional (wireless?) keyboard/mouse, and my nook color with vlc remote and/or other remote control software. I'll also want an external blu ray burner. I've been saying this shit for a while, but I'm finally a bit closer now.
