LOL, its 16 ga steel, not flimsy aluminum crap. Just tossing it around in the car won't misalign the rings. Grabbing them with a pair of pliers and twisting them will. So don't do that.
My keychain is 14 ga steel, and over the past 23 odd years use has buffed it to a bright shine--all of the rings are nice and smooth.
In answer to my original question: between $25 and $50 seems to be market rate for these.
