The game works on a timer, and all the events are at set times. If you hear about some dude at the pizza shop, you have to get over there soonish, or he will be gone. If you are interested in saving everybody, it gets pretty hard and you increasingly have to usher useless old ladies with heart conditions through mobs of zombie while you make a quick stop at the book store.
I thought the game was a riot. I managed the zombie genocide achievement. YOu know at the beginning when it says "anytown pop. 54,590"? That's how many zombie you must kill. Two words: parking garage
