I think you need to take baby steps. After zombies should come some sort of Lovecraftian monsters or types of zombies. Resident Evil started moving this direction with their weird tentacle zombies.
I think we need 10 more years of tentacle zombies before we get to any other significant point. At the end of those 10 years, we should take a brief stop to consider moving more towards tentacle anime porn monsters, and only then should we even consider zombie animals. Once the zombie animals start, it would have to begin small, and then after another 10 years could we move it to zombie dinosaurs.
