RE: Opening Day Tomorrow!!!
Word has gotten around among the blogger bums on Rotten Tomatoes that it's hip to like Source Code. The plot synopses I've seen make me wonder what makes this movie even slightly interesting.
Meanwhile, the same bums are ambivalent about Hanna. It's funny to watch them plagiarize each other and arrive at the same conclusions: (1) stylish but "not satisfying"; (2) sort of like Bourne but not as focused; (3) too much fairy-tale schtick now that Red Riding Hood has made fairy-tale schtick unpopular; (4) the kid who plays Hanna is some kind of brilliant prodigy who needs to do better movies.
I was kind of surprised that so few of the blogger bums mentioned that the whole premise of Hanna is utterly ridiculous. You can't train kids to become what Hanna is. You can try to take the audience's mind off the absurdity of a child-robot-monster-assassin by playing up her naivete, but kids simply cannot acquire the skill set Hanna supposedly has. Doesn't matter that her father psychologically abused her from birth to make her into some kind of murder machine. Kids just don't have the physical or mental capacity to be Bourne-ish.
Anyway, I would sooner see Hanna to watch Cate Blanchett play a psycho spy type than I would Source Code for no apparent reason.
