It's the store run by CDProjekt, who made The Witcher.
GOG is good, no doubt about it. No DRM and their games work. Plus, they usually throw in expansions, soundtracks, manuals, etc. for very low prices.
I don't think they're better than Steam, but they're good at what they do.
If you like casual games at all,
Big Fish
is excellent.
