It's true that GOG doesn't get all "social" on you, but I get constant spam from them. I never get anything from Steam except order confirmations/receipts.
Also, a lot of GOG's catalogue is garbage. This isn't their fault. Many of the publishers they try to work with won't let them sell games without DRM or they want unrealistic terms or whatever, so they're restricted in that department.
To be completely fair, a lot of Steam's catalogue is also garbage and they need more privacy options. Their automatic updates are also annoying. Other than that, Steam is an excellent service and I'm happy with them.
