Subject: Thinking about upgrading again

Not that there's any real need, but I may have some spare money soon and I would hate to waste it on savings accounts or making a bigger payment on any of my mountainous debts.

Much will depend on whether I want to make the leap -- for a leap it is, not merely a step -- a leap, I say, to 1920 x 1080 or whatever resolution the cool kids are using. Right now, I have 1680 x 1050, which is all right, but I worry that game developers are laughing at me through whatever spyware they plant in my system.

The new monitor would give me a reason to buy a new vidya card, mebbe one-a them HD 6950s or even a GTX 570.

Of course, if I did that, I'd have to get a better processor, like an i5 2500, and maybe an H67 motherboard (I don't care about overclocking, but I would probably get one of those Coolermaster Hyper 212 things because if I'd had one of those for my Prescott, we wouldn't be in this war in Iraq right now).

And so on.

But really, I don't think I need 1920 x 1080, so I could keep my monitor and maybe go for an HD 6950.

My present system is just peachy right now:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz

ZALMAN CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard

Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB

COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP

CORSAIR CMPSU-750HX 750W

Winders 7 64-bit

but you never know. Someone might save PC gaming from death and then where would I be?

Under-powered. That's where. My competition would have the edge. They accept no compromises. They hear their enemies coming. They humiliate the orcs who seek their blood.

I don't want to be one of those good men who stand by and do nothing.
