This game is giving off too much negative energy. You can feel it in the "I'm having fun" forum posts. You can sense it in the stock press screenshots.
The Duke haters are out there, of course. I can't figure them out. They're regulars on various forums, not like pop-in astroturfers for some competing game. Suddenly, they have this irrational mission. They're on these 24/7 campaigns, bent on whipping up the mob -- death to DNF, etc. Very weird Manchurian Candidate stuff. Sleeper DNF pod haters.
No, it's the defenders who make me nervous. You can tell they're lying about enjoying themselves. Nobody trying to convince you that hard is telling the truth.
So I think I'll wait until it goes on sale and maybe try for the eighteenth time to download the high-res pack for Duke 3D. Every time I've tried before, the download slows to a crawl.
