I'm the wrong person to ask due to my bias towards anything 40k, this is a game I've been waiting to play for some time now and so far it has met expectations. (Which to be honest, were extremely low to begin with due to the poor quality of anything 40k related that isn't an RTS or the table top game)
Controls are fine with mouse and keyboard, this is one of the first times I've seen a game let you use both pad and m/k at the same time, gamepad for melee combat and m/k for ranged combat though m/k alone works just fine for both.
I don't know if you've ever played Darksiders, the single player plays similarly.
