RE: LIfe on the edge
Loud page turning is a slippery slope. Like Eisenhower's domino theory suggests, obnoxious page turning in one corner of the library will eventually lead to slightly louder whispering than would otherwise be necessary. Slightly louder whispering would eventually turn into talking if enough people were involved. Once people are talking someone will figure out that they can yell. Once everyone's yelling it's only a matter of time before someone gets a book thrown at them, loses an eye, and the entire floor is consumed in a firestorm of violence.
Of course, I only flirt with loud page turning when I've got a buffer of cubicles between myself and neighbouring students. I try to keep the younger more impressionable ones at bay with high tariffs/a busy look about me.
Diet? No thank you. That stuff is for people with allergies to taste. I hear if you swim in aspartame for a few dozen years you might have a slightly higher chance to get cancer than you would if you didn't.
