Dungeon Siege II update
I posted this at muppet's forum, but I thought you all might overlook it there because I have so many other interesting posts on that board. So here:
------------------------------------------------
[something irrelevant went here; real stuff begins now]
I thought Elite skill would be, you know, somewhat more difficult, and I guess it would be if my party weren't full of overpowered killers.
Seriously, I'm constantly on the lookout for things that will improve my party, but there's nothing (so far) that will improve them. Four of the members are level 72, one is 71, and one is 69. The monsters are averaging about level 71.
Make no mistake. They're very powerful monsters. My party is about five times more powerful. My combat mage is using a spell that does over 1500 points of damage BESIDES sucking 12% of the creature's life out of it every time he casts. Since he has quickened casting raised to about 20%, he's doing unbelievable damage all by himself.
The nature mage has an ice spell that freezes monsters about 25% of the time. That's a lot. While they're freezing, they're taking about 1700 dp. This is like every 1.5 seconds.
One of the fighters uses two-handed weapons and has maxed out Smite, a skill that stuns opponents.
So you can see what's going on here. Just with the combat mage, the nature mage, and this fighter, monsters are doomed. They can't even move. Then you add in the other fighter who does tremendous dual-wield damage, plus Vix, who uses thrown weapons (and has nearly maxed out Bleed and Ricochet), plus another archer who does extreme damage with crossbows and related skills, PLUS the nature mage's summoned pet, which not only tanks and distracts but also does a surprising amount of damage . . .
. . . well, nothing much matters anymore. The party is simply rounding up monsters and pounding them to death. They have a gazillion health potions which they aren't using, partly because the monsters can't do much, and partly because even the mages have extreme armor and hitpoint levels.
Oh -- and my combat mage his this spell called Steal Magic. For about two minutes, a caster enemy's magic damage is reduced to a level that's nearly harmless. It's unbelievable. The guy is taking out MIMICS by himself! Bosses are nothing. NOTHING.
Still, I keep playing because I'm fascinated by how powerful this group has become. Every time they're attacked, you hear all this noise and see all the flames and ice and blood, and eventually it seems to blur into this big mushroom cloud, and the smoke clears and you see the ground littered with dead bodies, gold, weapons, etc. I love it. I love it so.
