the overclock i did actually did make a major performance gain. and performance actually does matter when you own a computer. those benches i originally posted a while back when i first first got the e8400 were accurate, in where the results were over a 100% gain in performance over the stock e6750 and something like a 50-60% gain in performace than the stock e8400 even thoe the oc itself is a 25% increase in clock speed. its the oddest oc i have ever seen and it really does perform well in transcoding and especially well in gaming.
bottom line, its holding up against the core i7 - the original goal i had in mind asside from better performance was to see how long it could last before current technology out grew it. and for the moment the core i7's dont pose any threat to it what so ever.
