Subject: RE: Dark Souls can burn in HELL.

YOu could direct it at me and I wouldn't mind. The game is 1 part fun, 2 parts frustrating. The thing about the frustration--with the notable exception of all the bosses--is that when you die, its is mostly because you fucked up.

The problem early on is that you have shit for damage and no stamina meter so every interaction is too long. Swings take stamina, but so does defense, so you get humped by a wildly swinging dude, you have no stamina left to swing.

I think I'm like lvl 50 or something now: I can kill shit in one swing I used to run away from screaming. Not really screaming, more like aggressively exclaiming. Literally. Like out loud to an empty room. However, if I miss, I still might die from two hits.

There's a lot of tension when you are exploring a new area and have a 40K soul meter (a lot, especially earlier), and no bonfire to spend them on and no more health potions (of the 5 you started with). I was in this situation and killed a boss, and moved on, and then I was in a dark cavern with NO LIGHT SOURCES, and a narrow bridge and two mini bosses. I dieded, fucked up some low-lvl bullshit encounter trying to get back, died again, and goodbye xp points. This is why atticus returned the game.

It is a big world though, well done, not totally fucking crazy like Japanese games tend to be, and I like the combat.
