Mental illness related to dopamine production appears to have a correlation with Toxoplasma gondii (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxoplasma_gondii) infection. This is pretty substantial considering 1/3 of the world's population is said to be infected (about 10% in the US, over 80% in France). Still more interesting is depending on what part of the brain is infected, can determine what kind of mental disorder it manifests itself as, such as depressive or schizophrenic spectrum disorders.
