Sounds like a load of suck.
I did once have a system that shorted out in the lab I worked in in Toronto. When I opened up the case, it was due to cockroach egg cases laid across some jumpers that were shorting out the system. Once I cleaned it out it worked swimmingly. Disgusting though.
