FYI my e8400 is a wolfdale (wtf am i smoking) and i think were the first mainstream to use high-k dielectric as a metal gate oxide - which is why my seemingly effortless moderately high OC of 3.8ghz was attainable and stable. high-k oxide was the last relevant microprocessor advancement since tri-gate. my wolfdale and the ivy bridge both share in common of having milestones of microprocessor design.
