It's funny to me how people overlook the greatness of blue gear. Blues often have great stats. I would go so far as to say that on average they have better stats than rares. Usually, all rares have going for them is a longer stat list, and most of the stats are junk -- 12% more gold from monsters, 104 more hp from potions, etc. Sometimes rares are spectacular, of course, but not so often that I get crazy looking for them. I consistently find a lot of merchant blues that crap all over rares; I just have to spend some time shopping for good combinations.
