The only point I was trying to make is that it's a mess and a pain in the ass. I ripped out the board and most of the stuff back on a solderless breadboard except the 7 segment displays. I cleaned up the wiring to the switches a bit by running a single common wire like I did to some of the buttons originally. I'm going to mount the breadboard to the bottom cover so it'll be easy to get to and plug in.

The jack that you're looking at is actually a 5 pin screw lock connector found on cb radios, though I only need 4 pins. I did want to go with a 4 pin xlr, but they're not as widely available as I thought. There's only 2 ICs in there, an i2c eeprom, and a microcontroller. As for what it does, you were somewhat close: it's for someone that doesn't suck at guitar, so you wouldn't understand. :P it is not any sort of analog signal processor. I'll youtubes part of the presentation when it's done.
