My problem -- the reason I have trouble advancing into Act 2 -- is that I don't want to die and spend money on repairs. I have this misguided belief that I can slowly or luckily get gear in Act 1 that will prepare me. I should get over this and accept the fact that I'm going to die and spend repair money.
On the other hand, there's a high probability that I'll never find anything good in Act 2 before losing so much repair money that I can't buy anything on the AH. I don't want to get into the "play Act 2 until you run out of money; farm Act 1 and earlier difficulties for repair gold; repeat" syndrome.
