Oh dear, see the problem with King Lear is that while I have never read it, a bunch of asshole 8th graders ruined it for me by acting it out as a play. Little hooligans should be arrested for tossing out spoilers with such recklessness.
Yes, McCarthy seems like quite the codger and very happy projecting his overall crankiness unto his readers, hence all the murdering, carnage and cannibalism. I've got a copy of No Country for Old Men which I bought back when the film was released but promptly forgot about, perhaps I'll give it a try.
