That would be because their stupid semi auto pistol props don't have working actions, you need to have moving slides in order to properly simulate recoil.
I mean fuck, they wouldn't even need to use proper blank cartridge replicas, they could get away with using shitty airsoft blow back pistols painted to look like the real thing for just about the same price of a replica.
But hell, I guess those weapon technical advisers must be expensive these days.
