RE: Psst, johnny
Anyways, it's a very fickle syndrome. Some medications work great on people, some have no effect at all. Some people last 3 months after getting diagnosed, some people last 10 years. It requires constant monitoring of the people that have it because the chemo destroys the blood cells so they have to make sure they stay at a safe wbc at the same time they're trying to destroy all the bad cells so it doesn't progress. My mom in particular is going in for the Dacogen treatment starting tomorrow. 5 times a week for one week a month with maybe some blood transfusions in between. No clue if it'll work, but in either case she found out the most she pays out of pocket with her medical plan will be $1000 a year. This of course means she'll have to work until the end of her life to be able to afford it but it's better than nothing.
