Reasons I have seen for orcs attacking barricades they are not supposed to:
Amulet Pets - They like to chase orcs close to barricades and it seems like the orcs have a bit of AOE damage when they fight pets.
Guardians - Archers for example, if you set them too close to a barricade(usually within 2-3 squares) to shoot at orcs that cant pass through, the will tend to attack the barricades to get to the archers.
AOE - It seems as if any fighting near barricades will produce an AOE effect sometimes damaging the barricades. They seem to be best placed in an area where they will just walk past with no obstructions whatsoever.
Just Because - If the orcs think you are winning a level, they will just break down your barricades because they want to win more than you do....
