RE: Getting a bit annoyed with OMD2
Other causes of barricade destruction:
1. Ragdolling. If orcs are knocked off their feet, they have to reorient themselves and re-figure the best path to the rift. If they "reason" that they have to retrace their steps and can't do it -- or can't figure out how to do it -- they will default to barricade attacks. They may attack the worst barricades possible in terms of creating a rift path, but they don't "know" this. All they know is that their options are limited. I don't see why this is un-fixable.
2. Player positioning. If you're standing too close to barricades, ogres and other heavies will get confused about their priorities. Should they continue along the path, or should they attack you? As ILA pointed out, guardians placed too close to barricades are equally problematic. This is probably why heavies charge so frequently as the waves get higher -- could also have something to do with their health -- maybe they "expect" to die sooner and are somehow recalculating options or something.
3. Sorceress charm. The sorc scepter (wand) is extremely powerful but can be a liability around barricades. The charm alt-fire creates the AOE effect ILA was talking about. Also, the primary fire knocks them off their feet. It's great at a distance but bad in a killbox with barricades.
