Shock traps with the place-on-walls upgrade. The shock flyers (whatever they are called) are a pain, but they only come in a handful of waves.
I just tried it again with a slightly different loadout and as long as you pay attention, two shock traps for the left side, and maybe six on the right side is enough.
I used shock traps at ground level as well. They tear through heavies. The fire ogres are a big problem. I put a bunch of cheap push traps up early to clear out the small fries. You rarely get even heavy orc troopers into the kill box until late game.
