RE: IGN has given Journey their GOTY award
It was awarded best original soundtrack, this I can understand as the soundtrack is excellent (It was nominated for a Grammy I think?), I'd also award it for its interesting visual styling.
But as game of the year? I have a very basic rule regarding the typical overhyped, overrated artsy indie games: If I can get the exact same experience watching an HD stream on Youtube than if I actually played it, then I'm not even going to consider it a game to begin with.
2012 was kind of shitty for games overall, I guess X-COM and Dishonored were ok. There were a bunch of good indie games too but other than that I can't think of a single really memorable release.
