RE: I didn't expect this at all! /s
fucking modded oblivion is glorious
its like stalker
with swords
dont go playing the funcom pack expecting a typical bethesda game though. picture it as a entirely new game, as a more traditional and real rpg that of the likes of gothic. but like a TES rendition of gothic. but like stalker/oblivion/gothic
SHITS RAD
combat is alot more challenging, both due to updated AI and game mechanics. theres a fuckton of monster variation with high level shit everywhere. you cant go charging through the main quest like a casual dumbass. but also theres balance yet to remain. everything was considered. the game is done so well, makes full use of the ALL the miscelanious bullshit with no real purpose scattered throughout vanilla. the food you find thrown around the world needs to be fucking eaten, the wells; drank from. the horses; critical mode of transportation.
the darkness is immersing, with beautify rendered pitch black environments that beckon a light source. torches have been changed to handle better with combat (easy drop/pickup without re-equipping your gear). the player leveling system has been entirely reworked, so it is vital that you not approach this as a tes game or you might not agree with it. i appreciate it for what it is - something different.
also, a word of advice. ive gone with a custom class breton build with 50% magic resistance, and still get handed by what i assume are low level magic casting creatures (hell hounds) cant imaging what it would be like without the res. breton is EZ mode and this game makes none of it.
my advice to new players would be to go with a fighter build without overlooking range. and by range i mean destruction magic. havent tried bows yet so not sure how their balanced but the destruction seems to be a better option regardless of race. also dont worry about fatigue during tutorial dungeon, it might seem low/bullshit but gets boosted during final character creation. oh and dont skip the tutorial dungeon (you have to option to now)
you're supposed to get a backpack that features easy drop and pickup of all non-equipped items (handy for running away if your build is not fighter and low on fatigue) but my install is glitched. a recommended method of fixing this would be selecting a 'non merged' install.
really wish this dood would release v7 of the funpack, should be anytime now
