Unexpected is the worst kind. Let's say you have the choice between disconnecting the computer yourself or being surprised by an unexpected disconnection. You should always go with the manual disconnection (although why you would want to be disconnected I have no idea -- if you have internet, you should try to be connected as opposed to being disconnected).
