well at least you got that one right
i on the other hand recently had to surrender my bolt action .308 to the los angeles police department due to a restraining order on a crime i didnt even commit. i made sure to call before and get details on the surrender process, asking them qestions such as "would it be wrong to walk into the police station with a loaded high powered rifle" and "should i bring droner with me or leave him at the house" (this was before they found him)
i assured them i was kidding, but somehow they didnt seem amused. when i got to the station it seemed like they were being flooded with prank calls, a specicifically heard one officer on the phone relaying his conversation out loud about a missing "bro" with autism lost somewhere nearby the local highschool, then a man came in with huge crazy eyes asking a lot of questions about some fix it ticket he got. the questions were generic as fuck and didnt seem like he really needed to be there. the man was very commanding and energetic with his inquiries, almost too energetic maybe illegally energetic. he kept a thin line going, he almost seemed insane but could tell he was very intelligent/well spoken and just trolling them on purpose.
so then it turns out theres no record of my firearm, they were looking at me as if i perhaps illegally purchased it. when their attitude changed i changed mines back right at them in more authoritative manner and looked them straight in the eye and asked them if there was a problem and assured them i purchased the rifle legally.
theres seems to be a lot of confidence going on at that shitty crumbly facility...
